Okay, so I realize that my last post was months ago- so much has happened and I just wasn’t sure where to begin. So, I will try to sum it all up for you, I hope it’s not too confusing. Ready? Here we go:
So, I think I blogged about our house actually going to the foreclosure auction and it was sold to some reality company (we think it was the same ones who pulled that low-balled scheme I blogged about earlier). They offered us a cash for keys incentive to get out within 30 days and we took it (duh?)- so, then began the scramble to find a rental in a small amount of time. We found one that worked and the day we were going to sign for it, the owners were denied the refinance they were doing on it and were sent to foreclosure. Strike one! So, an hour later, Cris found the most beautiful house ever! We totally thought it was a God-thing, we jumped on it, got our application in, and called the owner. We waited two weeks for her anwer- she had it narrowed down (a lot of applicants) to us and one other family….. apparently, the other family made more money, so we didn’t get it. Strike two! By this time we had one week left, my mom was coming in to town to help us move (not knowing where we’d be moving to) and we had zero prospects. It was a bit nerve wracking- to say the least. The funny thing was that, even though we were literally homeless- we were still hopeful. God just gave us this peace in his promise that he will never leave us or forsake us. Finally, the friday before we needed to be out (the inspector was coming to look at our house on Monday and to get our keys) we found a house. We actually found two- a friend of ours had a neighbor who wasn’t quite ready to rent yet but would let us stay there and help him get the house ready. After having no choices, we now had two- ugh! We decided on the house we are currently in, mainly because it does have a garage that we are using as storage. It’s a cute one-story house in Ferndale, great neighborhood (other than the gangs in the apartment complex down the road), it has it’s quirks (like the closet bathroom with the floor tile half there) but it really is a good house. The kids love it cause they get their own rooms! I will take some pictures soon to post. We don’t know how long we will be here because our landlord has decided that he wants to do a lease-to-own, and we can’t afford what he’s asking. We are also praying that something works out with the Robison’s house that they could get their payments lowered so they could rent it to us. Keep praying, people!
Anyhow, the latest news is that we will be entering in to the daily management of Jump Around (along with our current relief manager) as the Robison family will be moving to Texas in May. 🙁 We look forward to implementing some new ideas and getting back in to the business, but we are really going to miss our friends. Life will not be the same without them in Bellingham or at Jump Around. We could use your prayers in this time of transition and greiving.
Also, it looks like I will be heading to El Salvador on another missions trip at the end of June. We have about 30-40 students signed up to go this year and a handful of leaders. I had a hard time making my decision to go this year, with us getting back in to Jump Around and not knowing if we will be moving again. I wasn’t getting a clear answer from God either way so it was a bit frustrating in trying to make the right decision. Then I realized that all my reasons for staying were fear based… and God did not give us a spirit of fear, right? As Cris pointed out, I can’t make decisions based on “what if?” I think I had my answer! So, please be praying for God to provide the funds for this journey and for the “what ifs” to be taken care of.
That’s it for now, I will try to be better about blogging from now on. 🙂
