Guatemala Mission Trip- Day One

July 26th- “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 (Cris’ verse for the day- I had one for each day I was gone- I know, what a great husband I have!)

Thank you, Lord, for getting us here to Guatemala safely. It was a long trip but we made it and I’m so excited to be here and start your work right away.

We are staying in the cutest little hotel, it’s called ” Villa Espanola Hotel”-I just love it! I’m excited to get to know my roommate, Nicole, a bit more as well.

Tonight we are going to Kairos Ministries, a place where child cancer patients can stay while they are getting cancer treatment at the local hospital. Their hospitals are so packed all the time that they don’t allow most patients to stay overnight, forcing people to stay on the unsafe streets of Guatemala City. I’m not sure what our agenda is while we are there but I know that you, God, have a plan and a purpose for our being there tonight. Go before us God and open the eyes and ears of these children to receive your gift of love. Prepare our team for what they will see, hear and experience. Use us God, to show your love and your hope. Do a mighty work tonight!

“Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them.” Matthew 19:13   That is exactly what we did, Lord, you brought us there to experience the love and hope in that small blessed house. They had every reason to be filled with despair and hopelessness, some of them could die at any given moment. One of the little boys, about age 10, stopped reacting to treatments and is just waiting around till you call him home- and yet he has so much joy! He played soccor with some of the guys, and had more energy than they did! We had the opportunity to play with and pray over these kids tonight, what an amazing experience. We were all broken and humbled tonight, what a great start to the trip! We were also able to bless them with a large amount of the money we had left over from the overflow of blessing you provided for our trip, along with some water purification systems that someone had donated to us to bring. You are truely amazing, God, in the way you provide for your people. Praise you, Lord!
