Jump Around had the special priviledge on Monday to host a birthday party for the Children of Uganda. Because they are orphans, many of them don’t even know their birthday and have never had a birthday party. Lani Swanson and I arranged for the kids of our Home School Co-op to come help us celebrate, they had to pay their way in and we asked for a donation towards the many orphans that were in emergency situations- instead of gifts. All the kids had a great time playing on the inflatables and tore through the pizza real quick. The best part of the party was of course the cake. We had to explain the tradition behind the cake and making a wish to all the Ugandan kids, they are not accustomed to this and found it very interesting. When we told them they could wish for a bicycle or Barbie’s or whatever they wanted, you can not imagine what there wishes entailed. One said, ” I wish for nutrition” another said, “I wish for more food” another said, “I wish for prayers” and the best one of all was “I wish for heaven.” What amazing insight from such young children. They were completely blessed and full of hugs of gratitude. How cool is that that we could bless them in this way. It was a great birthday party! For those of you interested in watching them perform, they will be at Hillcrest Chapel this Sunday at 9 and 10:45 (I think). Check out more pictures of the party on our family photos tab.
