Wow- it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything! I guess that’s a sign that the holidays are upon us. Thanksgiving came and went and then it was time to get ready for Christmas. We have so many traditions in our house but this year we started a new one; we decided to seperate Santa from CHRISTmas and go back to the original day of celebrating St. Nick, which is December 6th. If you know the story of who he was, you know that he was a great and godly man who loved Jesus and loved to serve him by giving anonymous gifts. We believe that it would truely sadden St. Nick to know that a lot of people have replaced celebrating Jesus’ birthday with celebrating him- that is the last thing he would have wanted. So, to honor the man he was and the intentions of his life, we went back to the original way of celebrating the life of Saint Nicholas. On the evening of December 5th we loaded into the minivan with our cookies and hot cider and a few boxes of goodies to deliver to some unsuspecting recipients. Each of us chose a house to leave our treasure at, we knocked on a few of the doors… and then ran like crazy to jump back in the getaway van. It was a fun family night, that I am excited to make our new tradition. Then the kids left out their boots that night for St. Nick to fill, in the morning they were excited to find lots of yummy treasures inside and one big gift for them to share, the Playmobile Nativity Set. Something they all have loved playing with.
As for the offer on the house, we have had some rather poor news unfold this last week. Ever since we got the offer on the house, our realitors have been trying to get in contact with the case worker at the bank to see how we were to proceed. Finally after weeks of not getting a phone call returned, our realitor got aggresive and would not get off the phone until the guy talked with her. Come to find out, he was not the one handling our case, nice of him to let us know. So finally after talking with the right guy, we found out that someone had come and done sort of an appraisal on our house (took pictures and everything) trying to convince the bank to move it into foreclosure “because it would make them more money that way” and then this person could get it for cheap at the auction. Anyhow, our realitors did the best they could to move the offer forward in the last days before our house was to be auctioned, but it ended up going to auction anyway on the 11th. We should be hearing from the new owners in the next few days to see when they want us out. Our realitors tell us that it’s quite possible that they will offer us a sum of money to be out by a certain date, let’s hope anyway. So, as you can imagine, Cris and I were a bit discouraged and overwhelmed with this news. We tried our best to remain hopeful and trust in his plan… we didn’t do very good at that. It’s a good thing our God is faithful even when we are doubtful- because once again, he showed up! You’ll have to read the next post to see what happened. 🙂
